THE
PROBLEM IS THE PROBLEM THE PERSON IS NOT THE PROBLEM
With
this in mind it is possible to explore how the problem is
affecting lives and empower a person to combat or take action
to combat the problem.
Problems
can be rated on a 1 to 10 scale. One the problem is having
minimal affect, 10 the problem is having an extreme affect.
When
a problem gets us stuck up near a 10 we sometimes need help
to explore how to manage it. Counselling is one form of
help. It is not about the counsellor fixing the problem.
It is about the counsellor helping explore the problem’s
affects and possible ways of dealing to the problem, enabling
a person to discover they have choices, possibly have managed
this type of problem already and can take action.
There
are a number of names for problems we encounter throughout
our lives. Sometimes we meet these problem and they are
a 1 other times they can be a 5 , 7 , 9 or 10. These problems
get us to think, act and communicate in ways that are not
always helpful to us. We can take back control over how
we think, act and communicate and make changes to eradicate
problems.

Reactions to difficulties and
life events create emotional responses. Positive emotional
responses are fantastic and have us feeling great. Not so
good emotional responses need to be noticed. Those emotions
are sending us a message that we need to take notice of.
