To bring the junior physical education programme in line with the new curriculum we have introduced Aquatic skills. Every Thursday morning, of term 1 and 3, we will have all the Year 9 pupils at the local pool to develop their skills in the water. Depending on their current skill level and confidence they will be involved in learning to swim, developing swimming skills and woggle workouts.

Miss Olsen has also signed us up to the Swim for Life programme run by Water Safety NZ where the goal is to get as many of the pupils to be able to swim 200 meters by the end of term 3. According to the research done by Water Safety NZ, ¼ of ten year of children in this country cannot keep themselves afloat and ½ of all ten year olds cannot swim 25 metres.

Hopefully we can get the Forest View students to be a lot safer in the water than the average child. Can you remind your child to bring goggles and the cost of each session (including transport) is $2.
