We hold an annual
sports exchange with Waitara High School in Taranaki. The
exchange involves a two night stay with players being billeted.
The school is represented by the top teams in rugby, hockey,
netball, basketball, volleyball and golf. This exchange
is always a highlight on our school calendar.
Sports
Academy:
Senior students
who have a particular interest in furthering their involvement
in sport are able to become a member of the school’s
Sports Academy. Personal fitness and a positive attitude
are targeted as well as growth in the student’s particular
sporting code.
InterLake
Sports Competitions:
Lake competitions
involve the big sports - Athletics, Swimming and Cross-Country.
Basketball, Volleyball, Netball and Touch competitions are
also held over lunchtimes. Lake points are gained from these
competitions for the Peter Lee Trophy which is presented
at Senior Prizegiving.
Sporting
Contacts and Opportunities Outside of Tokoroa:
Forest View students
regularly compete in New Zealand and North Island Secondary
School competitions. We have a proud record of students
who have competed successfully at regional, national and
international levels in several different codes. We provide
some financial support for students who represent New Zealand
in their code of sport and celebrate their participation
at this level.
Years
9 and 10 End of Year Activities:
From 2004 we
introduced an EOTC programme in which all students are given
a range of activities to choose from for their end of year
Outdoor Education programme.
Some of the choices
are water skiing, rock climbing, black water rafting, clay
pigeon shooting, horse trekking, visiting Wellington and
many others.
2009 WAIKATO
