students at this level also study the core subjects:

They also select three options (one from each group
of Technology, Arts, and General):

in the above 2 categories plus – Agriculture,
Economics, Geography, History, Practical
Mathematics or Language Enrichment
All Year 11 and 12 students must undertake a full course
made up of six subject lines, Year 13 students take
5 subject lines.
YEAR
11
All
students must take an English course and a Mathematics
course at this level.
They
may then choose 4 other options that they would like
to do for the rest of the year. All subjects have credits
available so students can work towards gaining their
NCEA Level 1 qualification. Students are advised by
their Dean during Career tracking as to which subject
areas each student would be more suited to. Careful
choice of options is required at this level in order
that students keep their careers options open and do
not limit themselves to one possible career area.
YEAR
12
All
students must take an English course (compulsory)
at this level.
They
are then able to choose 5 more options that will help
their career choices later.Year 12 students visit various
industries and providers of tertiary education during
their trip to Auckland during term 1. This helps them
to make more informed decisions about their future education
and career choices.
YEAR
13
Students
at this level pick the subjects that will be required
to help them get into further education institutions
or appropriate courses for their career choice. Those
students at this level that are intent on going on
to University need to take 5 NCEA level 3 subjects
that are acceptable for University Entrance. The rest
of the students at this level take 5 subjects that
allow them access to further education opportunities.
All year 13 students have a study line instead of
a sixth subject.
