STREET ART SUCCESS

Leith McCloskey, a Year 9 student at FVHS has done well in a National Street Art competition/exhibition held in Nelson called ‘Oi You, What’s going on?’

Leith submitted a piece of Art which was called ‘Cycotyik Styles’ and r

eceived an email confirming that he is a Semi Finalist in the Youth section of the competition. He is in the process of refining his Artwork to a higher standard and will re-submit in a couple of weeks.

He hopes to go on further with the competition. If he wins, he will receive a limited edition print worth thousands of dollars handmade by American Street Artist ‘Faile’.

The finalist’s works will be in a gallery in Nelson with top UK Street Artist Banksy.

We wish Leith all the best.

UPDATE: Leith's artwork has passed the semi-final and he is now in the finals! Good Luck Leith.

PACIFICA BEATS ROTORUA HEATS

Emerge, Forest View High School's Pacifica Beats entry are a 9 piece band who competed for a spot in the National Final in Rotorua on Saturday the 25th of June. After two terms of preparation, Emerge turned up with their game face and performed their two original songs with style and flair. After a nervous wait, Emerge walked away 1st place winners and also received the Stage Presence Award. Summer Ratima-Thompson also won the Mana Wahine award for best overall female at the event. I would like to thank the band for all the effort they put into the songs and performance practice and all the staff and students that have supported us so far. Bring on the Nationals!

Do you know of something we don't?

Can you help us keep up-to-date?

Quite often students achieve outside of school and we would like to recognise their achievements.
