On Saturday
the 8th of May members of the School Mountain Biking Team
took part in a 12 hour relay race in the Redwoods in Rotorua.
Each boy had to cycle as fast as he could over 8 km of
cross country tracks so that the team could complete as
many laps in the 12 hours as possible.
Team ‘Danger
Fish’ comprising of Daniel Steed, O'Neill Sinclair,
Taylor James, Corey Carter and Ryan Goodhue were in the
Junior (under 17) team. Sam Flavell and Jordon Ehrhardt
were in another team in the open grade.
Nicholas Flutey
was a member of yet another team in the open grade. Final
results were posted and team ‘Danger Fish’
finished 10th in their category. All the teams had good
races with some very fast lap times being recorded. The
main team recorded over 30 laps (240km). Check out results.
Large amounts
of energy was used and replaced thanks to the parents
who manned the barbeque. They also helped set up the tent,
sorted out mechanical problems and supported the group
right up until prize giving at 10:30 on Saturday night.
The next events are the Waikato and BOP Duathlon Championships
on the 28th of May and the N-Duro individual mountain
bike race on the 14th of June.
